Lullaby Method

A manifestation technique where you repeat a short, soothing phrase that implies your wish is fulfilled as you drift to sleep, allowing the repetition to gently impress your desire on the subconscious mind.

What Is the Lullaby Method?

The lullaby method is a manifestation technique where you choose a short phrase that implies your desire is fulfilled and repeat it softly and rhythmically as you fall asleep. Like a lullaby that soothes a child into slumber, this phrase is meant to be calming, repetitive, and easy to sustain as your conscious mind relaxes into sleep.

This technique is particularly valued as a simpler alternative to full visualization during SATS. While Neville Goddard's primary instruction was to create and loop a vivid imaginal scene, not everyone finds visualization easy. The lullaby method achieves a similar result through words and feeling rather than images.

How the Lullaby Method Works

The lullaby method works on the same principle as all SATS-based techniques: the drowsy state before sleep is when your subconscious is most receptive. By repeating a phrase that carries the feeling of your wish fulfilled, you impress that assumption directly on the subconscious without the conscious mind's interference.

The repetitive, rhythmic nature of the phrase has an additional benefit. It occupies your conscious mind just enough to prevent unwanted thoughts from intruding, while remaining gentle enough that it does not keep you awake. The phrase becomes like a mantra that carries you into sleep while simultaneously delivering your desired impression.

As you repeat the phrase, the words gradually lose their intellectual meaning and become pure feeling. This is exactly what you want. Neville taught that feeling is the secret, and the lullaby method naturally transitions from words to feeling as you become drowsier.

How to Practice the Lullaby Method

1. Create Your Phrase

Your phrase should be short, present tense, and imply fulfillment. It should feel soothing, not urgent. Good examples:

  • "Isn't it wonderful" (Neville's own favorite phrase)
  • "Thank you, thank you, thank you"
  • "I am so happy and grateful now"
  • "It is done, it is done"
  • "I am loved, I am chosen"
  • "Everything worked out perfectly"

For specific desires, you can tailor the phrase:

  • "I love my new home"
  • "We are so happy together"
  • "I am so grateful for this promotion"

The best phrase is one that naturally brings a feeling of relief, satisfaction, or gratitude when you say it.

2. Get Into Your Drowsy State

Lie down in your sleeping position and allow yourself to relax fully. Wait until you feel the heaviness of approaching sleep. Your eyes should feel tired, your body should feel like it is sinking, and your thoughts should start to become less sharp.

3. Begin Repeating Softly

Start repeating your phrase, either silently in your mind or in a barely audible whisper. Keep the rhythm slow and gentle, like the pace of a lullaby. Do not rush. Do not put force behind the words. Let them flow naturally and softly.

4. Let the Words Become Feeling

As you continue repeating, you will notice the words starting to blur and merge. This is perfect. Allow the intellectual meaning to fade and the feeling behind the words to become dominant. You might stop forming the words clearly and simply ride the wave of the feeling they evoke.

5. Fall Asleep in the Feeling

Continue until you drift into sleep. If you fall asleep mid-phrase, that is ideal. The last impression before sleep is particularly powerful for subconscious programming.

Why "Isn't It Wonderful" Is So Effective

Neville Goddard frequently recommended the phrase "Isn't it wonderful" as a universal lullaby. Its effectiveness lies in several qualities:

  • It implies fulfillment without specifying details. You do not need to know exactly how your desire will manifest. The phrase covers everything with a blanket of satisfaction.
  • It naturally evokes genuine feeling. When you say "Isn't it wonderful," your mind automatically searches for what is wonderful, which primes it for positive expectation.
  • It is non-specific enough to avoid resistance. Unlike "I am a millionaire" which might trigger doubt, "Isn't it wonderful" slides past the critical mind because it does not make a specific claim.
  • It can apply to any desire. Whether you are manifesting money, love, health, or any other desire, this phrase works universally.
  • Lullaby Method vs. Full SATS Visualization

Both techniques target the same state and serve the same purpose. The main differences are:

  • Visualization requires more mental effort. Constructing and maintaining a vivid scene demands concentration that some people find keeps them too alert.
  • The lullaby method is more passive. The repetitive phrase requires minimal effort and naturally promotes drowsiness.
  • Visualization creates specific impressions. If your desire is very specific, a scene might communicate it more precisely.
  • The lullaby method creates general impressions. Phrases like "Isn't it wonderful" leave room for the subconscious to fill in the details, which can sometimes lead to outcomes even better than what you consciously planned.
  • Many practitioners use both: specific visualization on some nights and the lullaby method on others, or even combining them by repeating a phrase while loosely holding a feeling-image.

    Common Questions

What if I keep losing my place or forgetting the phrase?

This usually means you are very close to sleep. This is actually a good sign. When you notice you have drifted, gently return to the phrase without frustration. The drifting itself means your subconscious is highly receptive.

Can I change my phrase or should I stick with one?

Consistency helps deepen the impression, so sticking with one phrase for a specific desire is generally recommended. However, if a phrase stops feeling right, it is better to switch to one that resonates than to continue with one that feels forced.

How long before I see results?

As with all manifestation techniques, there is no fixed timeline. The key indicator is when the phrase starts to feel completely natural and true, rather than something you are trying to convince yourself of. When you reach that feeling of naturalness, manifestation is close.
